Big Blues Golf Tied For Seventh Place after First Day of Atlantic/East Regional
HERSHEY, Pa. – The Bluefield State golf team got off to a good start on the first day of the NCAA II Atlantic/East Regional, collectively shooting a 316 (+32) to conclude the day tied for seventh on the East Course at Hershey Country Club. University of Wilmington (Del.) leads the pack after day one with a 301 (+17).
Chandler Beavers and Jeff McGraw led the Big Blues with a seven-over-par 78 each, the Princeton, W. Va. natives are tied for 20th in the individual standings.
Beavers’ day was highlighted by two birdies on the 11th and 14th holes but they were offset by double bogeys on the back nine on the third and ninth holes. McGraw had a birdie of his own on the fifth hole.
Nick Dent was only a stroke behind with an eight-over-par 79 to end the day tied for 29th. Tyler Browning and Josh Ginger rounded out BSC’s scorers with an 81 and 87 respectively.
The Big Blues will return to the course tomorrow for a 12:50 p.m. tee time.
