Lady Blues def. Oakland City University 70-66 at Home
Bluefield, WV.— The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team won a close game today, 70-66, against Oakland City University in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium. The win brings the Lady Blues record to 14-5 on the season. Box Score The Lady Blues started out slow by missing jumpers and were down early 2-11 at the 14:24 mark. The Lady Blues stopped the Lady Oaks run with a basket by Amber Bryson and a quick layup by Shakima Wiggins and continued to go on a 15-5 run to take the lead 17-16, causing Oakland City to take a timeout. The Lady Blues pushed their lead to a couple more points, but the Lady Oaks came back to take a 35-29 lead. But, the Lady Blues scored 2 layups from Tonya Jackson and Shakima Wiggins to make the score 33-35. The Lady Oaks did make one out of two free-throws to take the lead 36-33 at the half. Lady Blues Add 2 More Student-Athletes
Bluefield, WV –The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team have added 2 more players to their team. Chaunte McDowell, who is a transfer from Winthrop University and Hope Nester, who is a West Virginia State University. Chaunte McDowell is a 5'8" point guard/shooting guard from Lewisburg, WV. Her senior year in high school, she averaged 21 points and shot 47% from the field, 34% from the 3-point line, and 80% from the free-throw line. She also had a 3.3 GPA. She received many honors: AAA WV State Champions (2012), AAA WV All-Tournament (2014, 2012), 2nd Team All-State (2013, 2012), All-State Semifinalist (2014), 1st Team All-State (2014), and McDonalds All-American (2014). The Lady Blues' Head Women's Basketball Coach, JJ Oliver says, "We feel like Chaunte will be a major asset to our program academically and athletically. She is a true student of the game who possesses multiple skill sets. Chaunte will be able to play any of the guard positions. She is a very smart player

Lady Blues def. Concord 70-55 at Home
Bluefield, WV.— The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team defeated Concord University 70-55, Monday night in the Ned E. Shott Gymnasium. This victory improves the Lady Blues overall record to 13-5 this season. Box Score For the game, the Lady Blues shot 40.9% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point land, and 73.3% from the free-throw line. The Lady Blues out-rebounded their opponent by 9, 49-40. The Lady Blues started out strong with a 13-2 to start the game, but the Mountain Lions came back to make a few shots to cut into the lead. The teams were trading baskets for a few minutes. Shakima Wiggins made an old-fashioned three-point play with a layup and a free-throw to end the half with a 18 point lead, 46-28. The Mountain Lions came out with a 12-4 run to cut the lead to 10 points at the 14:04 mark. Lady Blues def. Bob Jones University 68-39
Greenville, SC –The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team defeated Bob Jones University 68-39 in Greenville, SC. This win gives the Lady Blues a 12-5 overall record on the season. Box Score The Lady Blues were up by 10 points mid-way through the first half and continued to push the lead. They finished the half on a 12-4 run with a score of 36-18. The Lady Blues dominated the second half as well, pushing the lead to 33 a few times late in the second half, but ultimately won the game by 29 points. For the game the Lady Blues shot 40.3% from the field and 73.7% from the free-throw line. Big surprise in the win, the Lady Blues did not make a three-point shot all night. Lady Blues Sign Local Athlete, Lyndsay Hatfield
Bluefield, WV –The Bluefield State Lady Blues have signed local student-athlete Lyndsay Hatfield to a National Letter of Intent for the 2015-16 season. Lyndsay will be playing for the women's basketball team and the softball team next year. Lyndsay Hatfield is a 5'8" senior from Princeton, WV. She plays for the PikeView High School Panthers. Her parents are Tammy Rogers, and Geoffrey and Bev Hatfield.In basketball, Lyndsay is a shooting guard/forward. She is averaging about 18 points and 7 rebounds. For her basketball career honors, she has received 2nd Team All-Coalfield Conference (Freshman), 2nd Team All-4 Seasons County (Freshman), All-State (Sophomore), Bluefield Daily Telegraph Player of the Week (multiple times), and Wendy's Heisman.
