Lady Blues Basketball Camp Announced
    BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -  The Bluefield State Head Women's Basketball Coach JJ Oliver will be having his 2nd BSC Basketball Camp. The camp will be conducted June 23-26, 2014 (9 a.m.-4 p.m. daily) in the Ned Shott Gymnasium on the BSC campus. "The camp is designed for boys and girls, age 7-18 (high school graduates are not eligible). Coach Oliver, who is coming off leading the Lady Blues to their best season in 17 seasons and an ECAC conference championship, and camp counselors will work with campers to sharpen fundamental skills and enhance their understanding of the game. Camp fee is $75/participant and an optional meal plan may be purchased for an additional $6 a day or $24 for the week (meals include choice of pizza, chips, drink, and fruit or sub sandwich, chips, drink, and fruit.). Coach Oliver Selected to 2014 Coca-Cola NCAA Youth Clinics
    Nashville, TN. -  The Bluefield State College Athletic Department is very pleased to announce that Head Women's Basketball Coach JJ Oliver was selected to participate in this year's 2014 Coca Cola NCAA Youth Clinics during the Women's Basketball Final Four in Nashville, TN. The clinics were on Saturday, April 5th during the WBCA National Convention. The NCAA Youth Clinics are an NCAA outreach initiative throughout Nashville. Girls and boys (ages 8-16) have the opportunity to learn and enhance their sports, conditioning and life skills with basketball coaches and student-athletes, as well as collegiate administrators and basketball experts from various parts of the country. 2013-14 All-ICAA Basketball Awards Announced
BLUEFIELD, W. Va. - The Bluefield State Men's and Women's Basketball teams have student-athletes that were selected to the 2013-14 Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) Basketball Awards. Senior forward Shae Mebane was selected to the All-ICAA Women's Basketball Second Team. For the year, she averaged 9 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 1.3 steals and had 24 blocks on the season. She shot 72% from the free-throw line and 37% from the floor. Senior guard Treon Claiborne was selected to the All-ICAA Men's Basketball First Team. For the year, he averaged 16.6 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 2.6 assists. He shot 70% from the free-throw line and 51.2% from the floor. Sophomore guard Shakir Dunning was also selected to the All-ICAA Men's Basketball First Team. For the year, he averaged 23.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2 steals. Lady Blues are the ECAC DII Women's Basketball Champions!
    BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -  The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team have become the ECAC DII Women's Basketball Champions! The Lady Blues beat Goldey-Beacom 55-50 in the championship game today. This is Bluefield State College's first ECAC Championship, since becoming a member this past fall of 2013. The Lady Blues finish their season with a 16-10 record. Senior guard Shay Gravely had 13 points and 4 rebounds. Senior guard Jenaya Abernathy had 9 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 steals. Junior forward Tasia Nolan had a game 11 rebounds and added 6 points. Senior guard Indy Hauser had 9 points as well and added 6 rebounds. Both Senior forward Shae Mebane and Senior guard Kearah Jefferys had 8 points and 7 rebounds. Kearah Jefferys added 10 assists. Lady Blues are in the ECAC DII Women's Basketball Championship
 BLUEFIELD, W. Va. -  The Bluefield State Women's Basketball team has advanced to the ECAC DII Women's Basketball Championship Game against Goldey-Beacom on Sunday, March 16th at 1pm. The game will be played in Alumni Hall on the campus of Fairfield University in Fairfield, CT. The Lady Blues beat WV State in the Quarterfinal Game 76-70 in OT. Senior guard Jenaya Abernathy had 24 points and a perfect 7-for-7 from the free-throw line. She also had 4 steals and 2 assists. Junior forward Tasia Nolan had 12 points and 8 rebounds. Senior Shay Gravely had 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Senior Kearah Jefferys had 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 assists. Senior Shae Mebane had 10 points as well and added 7 rebounds. The Lady Blues will play Goldey-Beacom (MD) with a 15-14 record. Goldey-Beacom beat the higher seed Caldwell, 18-12 record, in the firs semifinal game 77-64.
